Buntingford has turned on its Christmas lights and the festive spirit is due to continue with a Xmas market and children's fancy dress competition, the Hertfordshire Mercury reports.
There will be late night shopping on Friday (December 5th) along with a funfair, hot food and mulled wine and the youngsters involved in the children's fancy dress competition will be able to enjoy a guest appearance by Father Christmas.
Residents in the town will take the opportunity to line the streets to remember loved ones at an annual Light of Love ceremony.
The Isabel Hospice will be running the event and families and friends will be able to hang a light on a tree of their choice in memory of someone.
Commenting on the town's light festival, Councillor John Noades said: "It was a really nice evening and the children really enjoyed it. The lights look really lovely and brighten up the High Street."
Lying on the River Rib, Buntingford grew mainly as a staging post and had numerous coaching inns.
