Children's fancy dress at Christmas fayre 1st Dec 2008
A fair with children's fancy dress, carols, performances and processions concluded with a Christmas lights switch-on in Aldeburgh, Eadt.co.uk reports.
Around 250 people turned out to watch the town centre lights be switched on and the mayor, Jimmy Robinson was joined by Father Christmas and the carnival Queen to illuminate the place.
The community fair saw stallholders raising money for local charities and a festive fancy dress competition, plus a fun fair that took over the car park.
Commenting on the event, Mr Robinson said: "It went very well. It was nice to see so many people there.
"We are in the festive spirit and it will be nice if people choose to do their Christmas shopping in Aldeburgh now."
The paper also reported on Stowmarket's Christmas Tree Festival that included a mini craft fayre that raised money for charity.
Aldeburch means "old fort" and the Tudor town in Suffolk was a leading port which had a flourishing ship-building industry in the 16th century.
