Children's fancy dress for Boxing Day swim 21st Nov 2008
There will hopefully be a delightful gathering of princess, fairy and wizard-themed children's fancy dress costumes on display at South Shields seafront this Boxing Day.
Every year, adults and children dress up as their favourite animals, people and characters to take a dip in the icy winter waters to raise money for a good cause.
The Shields Gazette reports that all proceeds from the sponsored plunge will be donated to St Clare's Hospice in Jarrow.
To take part, all you need to do is turn up at the seafront in your costume by 11am on December 26th.
There will be prizes for the best fancy dress costumes, and a chance to get some much-needed exercise after the excesses of Christmas Day.
"You can wear anything you like," fundraising officer Valerie Maggiore told the newspaper, "As long as you wear something!"
Christmas is a great time for fancy dress - in Daventry, kids will be dressing up for a special costume competition as part of the festivities at the town's tree lighting ceremony this weekend.
Dress up Sets Have lots of fun with these wonderful sets! Perfect for parties or just playing in the house, they are easy to wear and come in their own bags!
