Children's fancy dress tribute to author 23rd Oct 2008
A primary school decided to pay tribute to its favourite author last week through a thrilling festival of children's fancy dress and reading.
The children at St Teresa's Primary were encouraged to dress-up as the wonderful and crazy characters from the world of Roald Dahl in a fun-filled celebration, the Essex Echo reported.
The little oompa-loompas were also treated to a special Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-themed lunch to top off a week of festivities.
Deputy headteacher, Paula Farulli, told the Essex Echo: "The effort the children put into their costumes was remarkable.
"It was a lovely week and the fancy dress day and lunch were the perfect way to mark the end of the event."
During the fun-filled week at the school in Basildon, children's parents and grandparents were encouraged to read their favourite tales from Dahl classics such as the Fantastic Mr Fox and the Twits.
