Adults join in with children's fancy dress for Bookstart 2008 15th Oct 2008

Pupils dressed up as their favourite book characters as children's fancy dress marked the beginning of celebrations for Bookstart 2008, the Halifax Courier reports.
There were a series of events across schools and children's groups in Calderdale with some holding book fairs and other enjoying visits from authors.
Staff and pupils at Triangle Primary School joined in the fun as they got involved in children's fancy dress and wore wild animal costumes for classes.
Gavin Davis, head teacher at the school, wore a tree costume for the day.
Commenting on the week's events, Mr Davis said: "We've had a really good week and the children have really enjoyed themselves."
Author Tom Palmer got the chance to receive feedback on his latest book as he gave out copies of Shaking Hands with Michael Rooney to children and asked for their feedback.
He said that he likes to know what people think of his work but rarely gets to talk to readers.
The theme of this years National Bookstart Day was Pirates Ahoy! with 500,000 free copies of the book by Debbie Harter and Oscar Seaworthy being distributed across the country.
