"Perfect" weather at an annual fund-raising event for St John's Ambulance helped to draw the crowds and create a "carnival atmosphere", the North Devon Gazette reports.
There was a carnival procession through the centre of South Molton on Saturday (September 27th) and the carnival queen was crowned by mayoress Christine Lock.
Prizes were given out for best individual fancy dress, best group fancy dress and floats and vehicles in the carnival parade were given awards for best mechanically propelled vehicle.
Commenting on the success of the event, Henry Smith of organisers, South Molton and District Lions Club, said: "The weather was perfect and the crowds were massive. We were very pleased with the number of entries and around 20 floats. The effort people put in really showed."
An overall champion was also declared at the end of the carnival and the prize went to the Mini Moltons for their Circus Extravaganza.
