Record Office party gives kids chance to dress up 29th Sep 2008
A party which will allow children to dress up in Victorian clothing is being planned by the Record Office in Somerset.
Organised to mark the office's 50th anniversary in the premises at Obridge Road, Taunton, the party will take place on Saturday, the Somerset County Gazette reported.
According to the local paper, the fun will start at 10am and last until 4pm.
Children are invited to enrol in the office's "Victorian School" for the day and take part in los of activities, including of curse the chance to dress up.
There will also be a treasure hunt and the opportunity to meet Somerset County Council's official mascot, Sparky the Dragon.
Heritage officer Tom Mayberry commented: "The Family Open Day is a great way not only to celebrate 50 years of the Record Office at Obridge Road, but also to enable local people to learn about its past and see the plans for its future.
"During its 50 years at Obridge Road, the office has helped hundreds of thousands of people trace their ancestry and unlock the history of the County as a whole."
