Some £1,000 was raised for charity by department store staff as they donned Heroes and Villains fancy dress costumes and had a party in aid of the NSPCC.
Portsmouth.co.uk reported that the team had a budget of just £50 to try and raise as much money for the charity as possible.
After the event, NSPCC community appeals manager Mandy Finch was presented with a cheque for the money raised from the event.
Commenting on the importance of events like the fancy dress, Ms Finch said: "With around 90 per cent of the NSPCC's funding coming from donations and fund-raising activities, the fantastic support we have received from everyone at Knight and Lee is both extremely important and greatly appreciated."
Kate Brison, a manager at Knight and Lee department store in Southsea was reported to have had the original idea for the event.
Ms Brison is a member of the Milton and Eastney NSPCC fund-raising group.
