Rugby players dress up to raise cash for youth squad 23rd Sep 2008
A rugby match in which the players all turned up in fancy dress has raised money for a youth squad.
Organised by Contour Homes and Countryside Properties, the game pitted the Broughton Babes against the Lady Boys of Broughton.
Members of each team turned up in dresses complemented with either flip-flops, high heels or wellies filled with custard, 24dash.com reported.
The money raised by the match went to supporting the Broughton Rangers Under 12's Rugby Club.
Debbie Baker, chair of the club, was thrilled that the match had been so successful.
She told the site: "We managed to raise quite a bit of money for the Under 12s team which is fabulous.
"The club really took off last year and we want to ensure that we start a new season with plenty of funds. Not only is rugby a healthy activity that gets the kids in the fresh air, but it also focuses their attention away from what is sometimes seen as disruptive behaviour."
