Children's fancy dress has recycling theme 18th Sep 2008

A village show decided to adopt a green theme for its festivities this year and youngsters were encouraged to make their own children's fancy dress. All the children at the show embraced the "go green" theme and the organisers said it had been a great success. There was a children's parade to start off the proceedings and the Electralites majorettes led the procession. Visitors to the show also got to see a barber shop quartet, a tug of war, competitions and a relay race that involved children using recycled plastic bottles as batons. Commenting on the day, Jessica Heavey, from the show organising committee, said: "Everyone really got into the recycling theme, especially the children, many of whom made a fantastic effort with their fancy dress costumes." The children's fancy dress costumes were a highlight of the day and entries based on the recycling theme included a milk bottle, recycling man, and a recycling bin.
