Children's fancy dress and oyster eating at festival 16th Sep 2008
A man has defended his oyster-eating title at the Hillsborough Oyster festival that also included a children's fancy dress competition, local paper the Dromore Leader reports.
The three-day international festival has been running for 16 years and has a raft of fun activities for youngster and adults.
There was a boat race, a tug of war and a fashion show on the first day and the World Oyster Eating Championship Finals took place on the last day.
As well as the children's fancy dress and the 230 shellfish that were munched by the winner of the oyster competition, there was a children's fun dog show, a market carnival and a fly-by from the RAF's Red Arrows.
Some £45,000 was raised for charity from the event last year and the website said that "with continued support from their sponsor, organisers hope to bear that amount".
Finally a live band and barbeque finished off the events, which was hailed as a "fantastic festival".
