'Lost village' hosts fun day with children's fancy dress 2nd Sep 2008
Residents of a 'lost village' are to hold a family fun day that will include children's fancy dress to show that they are proud of their heritage, the Citizen reports.
Locals say that Guide village, which is believed to be 300 to 400 years old, has "been forgotten" since the M65 was built through it.
An action group has been formed by local residents to "raise awareness of the village".
The family fun day on Saturday (September 6th) is being run by the action group and as well as children's fancy dress youngsters will be able to enjoy games, activities, welly throwing and a five-a-side football match.
Morag Cowburn, who is in the action group and has lived in the village for 25 years, said that the day was being held because "we are still very proud of living in Guide" so they "decided to have an event that everyone will be welcome to".
A commemorative stone and bench will also be unveiled on the day of all the activities.
