Children gear up for carnival week

Children in Mere, Wiltshire, are gearing up for this year's carnival celebrations, which are set to take place next month.

The fun will begin on Tuesday, September 9th with a quiz night at the Mere lecture hall, reports thisiswiltshire.co.uk.

On Thursday September 11th there will be a race night at the Walnut Tree Inn at 7.45 pm.

Carnival day will take place on Saturday September 13th and will kick off with a children's fancy dress parade.

Judging will take place at 2.15pm and the procession will commence, led by the carnival princess, bands and majorettes.

The procession will recommence at 7.30pm, with those wishing to join in being asked to gather at White Road by 6pm.

The grand draw will take place after the children's procession at approximately 3.45pm in the square.

Entry forms for both the children's fancy dress parade and the evening procession are now available from Mere Post Office.
