Sophie becomes fancy dress princess

A little girl who is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour became a fairy tale princess this weekend as she took part in a fancy dress competition.
Three-year-old Sophie Harper established a world record for the number of people in fancy dress to raise money for charity, reports eadt.co.uk.
The fancy dress competition, organised by Sophie's grandfather John Huggins, attracted pirates, Morris dancers and cartoon characters.
Participants then set off on a two-mile sponsored walk to raise money for three charities that have supported Sophie and her family.
Sophie dressed as a princess and was pushed around the route in a buggy. She was just 19 months old when the tumour was detected.
"If we raise as much as last year I would be more than happy because money is much tighter this year," Mr Huggins told the website.
This weekend's fancy dress
carnival
succeeded in establishing a world record for the number of people in fancy dress gathered at a single location.
Last year, Mr Huggins, organised a similar fancy dress event and raised £30,000 for three charities.
