Torchlight carnival for Sheringham 14th Aug 2008

Sheringham carnival in Norfolk was a great success this weekend, coming to a close with a torchlight procession through the town followed by a firework display.
The streets were buzzing with the carnival atmosphere as the parade hit the road last week when the childrens fancy dress parade took to the road, reports the North Norfolk News.
A procession of 20 floats was led by the towns Salvation Army Band and Roman soldiers, the grim reaper and a ship of pirates joined in the fancy dress parade.
Carnival chairman Joan Cozens told the newspaper that the bonny baby, chalk-a-picture and sandcastle building competitions had attracted more entrants than ever before.
Fun continued for all the family throughout the week, with events including a fancy dress beach clean organised by the members of Sheringham in Bloom.
The medieval day featured games, music and crafts, a beach part and a rubber duck race, where 150 children took part.
"It has been brilliant, and I would like to say a big thank you to every one who helped, especially our carnival queen and attendants, who really excelled themselves," carnival vice chairman Helena Beresford told the newspaper.
