Brolly good show at Wells carnival

The annual week-long Wells carnival went ahead this weekend despite driving rain and cold winds.

Thousands of people turned out in Wells to enjoy Saturday's 12-hour programme of events, reports the website edp24.co.uk.

Both adults and children took part I the fancy dress competition, with first prize going to a toddler dressed as Indiana Jones.

Other amazing fancy dress costumes included a walking train, the invisible man and a group dressed as a traditional British beach scene.

"While it rained on our parade, it didn't stop the music and fun," carnival committee chairman Patrick Weston told the website.

"We would like to thank the public for coming along in such large numbers to enjoy carnival day," he added.

Other events at the carnival included an open-air concert by singer Frazer Allen and blues-rock group the Hamsters.
