Fancy dress carnival returns after 8 years 8th Aug 2008

The Moss Bay carnival is set to return to Workington this weekend after an absence of eight years - and it is promised to be the best yet.
Organisers have said that they are hoping for a record turn out for the children's fancy dress carnival, reports the Times and Star.
One of the event coordinators, Alyson Hodgson, told the newspaper that they are working hard to make sure everything comes together and to see the "children's smiling faces".
"There isn't much entertainment for children in this area so we decided that it would be good to get the carnival back up and running," she said.
Some nine floats have been entered into the carnival, which will process from the Lonning. Judging will take place from 12.30pm and 1pm.
Children in fancy dress, cheerleaders and decorated prams are also expected to parade through the town and finish back at the Lonning.
"The community spirit in Moss Bay is immense and whenever something is put on then the whole community comes together," Ms Hodgson concluded.
