Sunny day for Lockerley and East Dean Carnival 1st Jul 2008

 |
A children's fancy dress procession kicked off the Lockerley and East Dean Carnival, reports local newspaper the Daily Echo.
Entrants to the procession included a cheerleading team, characters from the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and canine chariots, it adds.
The annual carnival, which took place on Saturday June 28th this year, began with the children's fancy dress parade, which travelled through the villages and ended at Butts Green in Lockerly.
There, a fete entertained carnival-goers with games, activities, food and refreshment stalls. The newspaper adds that the weather stayed beautiful throughout the day.
Other entertainment included the annual village horticultural show at the local Lockerley and East Dean Memorial Hall, where green-fingered locals and visitors displayed their prize vegetables and flowers.
This year's carnival was a great improvement on eight years ago, according to the ThisIsHampshire.net website, as it reported that just one lone float took part in the 2000 fancy dress parade.
