Little children who believe in fairies were encouraged to dress up in fairytale dresses over the weekend.
Reported by the Burton Mail, Lesley Smith, curator of Tutbury Castle in East Staffordshire, organised a children's fancy dress Fairytale Day.
The day included fairy crafts such as magical cake decorating, stalls and workshops for children in fairy dress to enjoy.
Ms Smith is well known for her love of all things magical, stated the newspaper, and is currently seeking anyone who has had an encounter with a fairy to come forward and feature in a new television documentary.
The series revolves around the history of belief of the winged creatures and their inclusion in literature such as Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
"Fairs and specialist shops prove how wide the interest [in fairies] is," said Ms Smith. "I know for some people, their belief goes from childhood and right on through their whole life."
