A children's fancy dress parade kicked off the Sawtry Carnival on Saturday (june 14th), reports the Peterborough Today.
Girl Guides, Brownies, schools and children's groups all wore their favourite fairy dress, princess dress or cartoon character outfit for the event, the newspaper states.
Doctor Who characters K9 and a Dalek joined in with the festivities, which made their way to the carnival behind the Old School Hall.
"It is a real community event where everyone from the village gets involved," commented 12-year-old Brownie Rebecca Newson.
"We were lucky to have such great weather and everyone seemed to have a great time."
Other entertainment on offer at the Carnival was music from the Peterborough Pipe Band and Harmony Majorettes, cheerleaders, a model railway club and a tombola.
The Sawtry Junior School Choir also performed for visitors, the newspaper added, with all the money raised being put away for next year's Carnival.
In September, the village of Sawtry will hold its annual show which includes vegetables, flowers, arts and crafts, photography and cookery categories.
