Fairy crafts workshop at Osgodby Carnival 16th Jun 2008
Fairy crafts and a bouncy castle kept children entertained at yesterday's (June 15th) Osgodby Carnival.
The Scarborough Evening News reported that ten young girls competed for the chance to wear a princess fancy dress and be crowned Osgobdy Carnival Princess.
To be in with a chance of winning the title, girls had to send a photograph of themselves with a short letter explaining why they thought they deserved to wear the all-important princess fancy dress.
Other entertainment included children's entertainer Magic Mal, music from Scarborough Starlights marching band Simply Brass, and a range of exhibitions, such as belly dancing, karate and birds of prey.
Prior to the event, carnival organiser Peter Southwold told the newspaper: "A lot of hard work has gone into the planning and I am very pleased with the result. We just have to keep our fingers crossed for good weather now."
There were also stalls for visitors to browse at and a countryside caravan offering garden advice.
