Children's fancy dress at Gourock 11th Jun 2008

A children's fancy dress competition is taking place this Sunday (June 15th) as part of Inverclyde's Gourock Garden Party.
Reported by Inverclyde Now, entries to last year's competition included Marge Simpson, a policeman and Little Red Riding Hood.
The Gala Queen and her attendant will all be picked from local primary schools to wear the fairytale dresses as well as a page boy.
All the royal party will parade around Gourock Park on Larkfield Road, led by bugle bands of the Boys' Brigade.
This year will be the 150th anniversary of Gourock being granted Burgh status in 1858 and all entry donations will go to local charities.
Inverclyde council stated that the fancy dress competition is open to all themes, but in view of the anniversary, Victorian costumes would be appreciated.
Activities include a barbecue, a home-made bake stall, tombolas, raffles and various bands, the newspaper added.
As this year's event takes place on Father's Day, there will also be a prize awarded to the best-dressed dad.
