Teddy bears get special care 11th Apr 2008

Some 'ill' teddy bears are set to receive the best in toy animal healthcare from Sheffield medical students, as part of a scheme to introduce children to doctors and hospitals.
At the Teddy Bear Hospital event, taking place at Weston Park Museum, bears will undergo examinations, have their blood pressure taken, get an MRI or X-ray and receive bandages, the Sheffield Star reports.
Kids who stop by can watch the healthcare professionals in action, play with their bears, get their faces painted, enjoy healthy eating games and learn about anatomy.
Deborah Phillips, one of the students taking part in the day, told the publication: "Teddy Bear Hospital aims to help children understand what it is like to see the doctor, which allows them to combat fears."
The UK-wide project was created to promote health education among three to seven-year-olds and their families.
