Teddy bear treatment in Sheffield 7th Apr 2008

Those worried about the health of their teddy bear need fear no more - a special hospital reserved for the treatment of the cuddly toys is due to open in Sheffield this weekend.
In a bid to dispel children's fears about visiting the hospital, medical students from the University of Sheffield will welcome teddy bears to a drop in session at the Weston Park Museum in the city, reports the Sheffield Telegraph.
For the second year in a row, all will be given a free, private consultation while their owners, any child between the age of four and 11, look on.
And the teddy doctors will fix any aches or pains that the furry creature may have, with the sewing up of holes, a bandage or a 'pawscription'.
It is hope that the exercise, the brainchild of students Emily Lees and Abi Jones, will also give the trainees a chance to learn to interact with children.
Deborah Phillips, a third-year medical student and teddy doctor, said: "Teddy Bear Hospital aims to help children understand what it is like to see the doctor, which allows them to combat fears and find that it's not too scary."
Meanwhile, a similar event is taking place at Credit Valley Hospital in Ontario, Canada this week.
